Buffalo
From underground roots to the catwalk: Buffalo has been creating bold, iconic footwear since 1979. Known from the Spice Girls and loved in the dance scene now available at Taft. Discover the collection full of platforms, attitude, and style.
Buffalo may have shot to international fame in the 1990s, thanks to the Spice Girls and later icons like Britney Spears But the brand’s story began long before that. Founded in 1979 by Michael Conradi, Buffalo started out importing Western boots to Germany. From its roots in Hochheim am Main, a town in the German state of Hesse known for its celebrated “Hock” wines, Buffalo embarked on a journey that would transform it into a global fashion name.
By 1984, Buffalo had expanded internationally, distributing its footwear in the USA, UK, France, the Netherlands, Austria, and Australia. What began as a niche footwear company quickly evolved into a major European distributor of fashion shoes and accessories. And while the collections have grown more diverse over the years, the iconic platform and wedge boots remain at the core of the brand’s identity.
Buffalo became synonymous with the underground music and dance scenes. Especially techno and its bold, unmistakable designs have long been a favorite on dancefloors and in street fashion. Celebrities and trendsetters alike embraced the brand, with stars like Lady Gaga and Lily Allen seen wearing Buffalo styles both on and off stage.
Today, Buffalo continues to release two new collections each year, combining fashion-forward design with high-quality craftsmanship. While trends evolve, the brand stays true to its bold, expressive spirit. Buffalo isn’t just about footwear, it’s about making a statement.
